Standing on Solid Ground: An Earth Day Reflection
“We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”
— Native American proverb

Earth Day reminds us to respect what sustains us in the most extraordinary ways. Consider the warmth of sunlight and vitamin D through a window, the steady rhythm of rain and flowing rivers, or the first signs of blooming to life after a long season of rest.
There is so much joy that lives in these details. A joy that is present, accessible, and often overlooked. We can find it when watering a plant and noticing new growth. Or when we’re opening a door to fresh air. Or sacred rest and gratitude at the end of each day. These details bring awareness into natures rhythms.
…and connect us to our collective home.
The traditional ecological systems (TEK) speak to the importance of the Earth element as a source of grounding and nourishment. Earth represents stability, and allows us the conditions for life, growth and evolution for all beings.
As the Earth moves in cycles, there is a steady intelligence in that movement. Nothing is static. Everything changes, softens, and begins again. It’s all energy in motion, holding life.
The Earth does not ask for perfection. It offers a return to awareness to the solid ground that supports us, to the systems that sustain us, and to the understanding that care can be simple, consistent, and deeply rooted in what is already here.
Reflection of gratitude and a prayer for Gaia, Mother Earth & Our Sacred Home. May we take care of you as you take care of us, and may we take care of each other.
With a grateful heart,
Kim
