Navigating Seasonal Depression & Mood Dips

"Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that's related to changes in seasons — seasonal affective disorder (SAD) begins and ends at about the same times every year. If you're like most people with SAD, your symptoms start in the fall and continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody. These symptoms often resolve during the spring and summer months." Source: Mayo Clinic.
Hang in there... This winter, practicing self-care is more important than ever. Lean into JAMU traditions of Indonesian Wellness.
Here are Kim’s favorite ways to make it through the transitional season:
Warmth: Daily hot teas and foods, such as soups enhanced with ginger root for a rooty boost. With a high concentration of phenols, eating fresh ginger root relaxes blood vessels, promoting blood flow throughout the body. Ginger root is also recognized as a digestive support, especially delicious when sipped warm with lemon and honey.
Massage: Daily self-massage with JAMU's Ginger Spice Organic Oil. After bathing, keep your hyde from being dry and stimulate lymphatic system with oil massage, being sure to finish all massage stokes toward the heart, and breathe.
Ginger Spice Scrub: "Boreh" is the classic Bali remedy to "reduce wind/air and help regulate body temperature" during colder months. This spice blend with cloves and cinnamon, used as a poultice then scrubbed off the skin, will both enhance circulation and exfoliation. Experience JAMU's Self-Care Kit for a Bali-inspired staycation and wellness practice.
