JAMU’s Balinese Massage Experience Goes to Mexico

Hola! I’m still glowing from my recent travels to Nayarit, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mexico this past month. The intention for this trip was to conduct an in-person Balinese Massage Experience class and welcome Monica Orozco as an official instructor for Mexico and Latin America.

I’m delighted to introduce Monica Orozco, an incredible massage practitioner and international educator. Monica is trilingual (Spanish, English, and Italian) and offers unique and effective modalities including: Thai Massage, Abdominal Massage, Pelvis and Sacrum Therapies – and NOW Balinese Massage.

Monica and I met virtually in 2010, when I conducted a Balinese Massage Review Class for Rosewood Tucker's Point Spa in Bermuda. Monica was intrigued with my global career path as a massage therapist, spa director, educator, and consultant, and contacted me after the training. And wow am I so grateful that we stayed in touch.

Fast forward to 2020, after years of hopeful planning, we reconnected in Mexico and the friendship and future plans began to grow. It took us five years – but all good things take time, right? We completed the translation for Balinese Massage Experience Virtual Course in 2024, then in 2025 hosted class together and finalized Monica’s certification.

The most heartfelt thank you to Monica for taking care of ALL the details required for our course, which sold out within two weeks of advertising. The interest was proven and the students were a delight. Location, location, location is key as Monica arranged training in a villa overlooking the bay. Monica will be offering training in Montana in August of 2025 for abdominal techniques, combined with our one-day Balinese Massage Experience course. We are planning for more classes in Mexico in 2026, as well as Bali, Indonesia and we hope you join us in person or online!
